Scholarly Writing and Plagiarism
Paraphrasing
O’Conner describes a good writer as the one who can read effortlessly. Alternatively, the workouts should be done by lifting weights. Therefore, it is not true that the better a writer becomes, the tougher he/she is. The reason is that a reader has always right, as if an excerpt does not make sense it is because of the writer’s inabilities (O’Conner, 2003). It is believed that many readers fear what they cannot understand, as it has been already proved and practiced by ancient Greek speakers. Therefore, simplicity comes as a result of clear thinking. Simplicity in writing can move the audience, hence eliminates adversary relationships
Review reports
The report from Grammarly has awarded my paraphrased text with a score of 93 out of a possible 100. This is due to the presence of colloquial speech in the paraphrase. This grammatical issue is very common in academic writing, when students use an informal speech. On the other hand, in academic writing one is expected to provide a formal speech design.
Walden writing center
Walden academic writing center helps in identifying different types of formatting while undertaking scholarly writing. Hereby, the student may get the appropriate ways of formatting in APA, MLA and how to provide references for the works provided. This is given in form of templates (Walden University, 2014). While also providing extended links to Grammarly and Turnitin, it is certainly the most useful.
Experience
The use of Grammarly and Turnitin has helped to get knowledge of other areas to consider during paraphrasing text by another author. Hereby, I am able to retrieve information from another author and consequently making it my own. Therefore, I am able to deliver original work.
