A lot of students dislike history and take the bare minimum requirement to fulfill credit requirements. It’s rather sad that this is the case, but often the dislike stems from the way these courses are taught.
There is a reason why there is a degree that is not conferred by any university but which is commonly recognized in the academic community. It is called the A.B.D. degree, and it stands for, “All But Dissertation.”
There are many different types of essays - argumentative, descriptive, persuasive, narrative, compare/contrast, and more. The five paragraph essay, on the other hand, is not an essay type.
